Narrative Structure of Two Films

I used two cartoons because they have a similar in genre.

My Game Idea

My idea is to have an iPhone game work through Google Earth. Games are able to integrate in online things like Google Maps. so the idea is to have each user around the world to start the game as a little avatar and work their way up on the earth in google. It is essentially like a Sim City that has thousands of users that will have to work together to live.

The extend the story in the game each year (every 12 months) something will happen globally. For example one year Aliens might attack. the people playing the game will have to find ways of killing them if they are hostel.
Something else could be that some sort of accident happens at a nuclear waist dump and there is a super villain who wants to take over the world.

The stories will have events that will happen every so often to get users connecting to the game to see what is going to take place. If the "Aliens will open the ship" on a specific date people will want to see what will happen. and each event will make the story progress more each time.

It is like second life with more restrictions and with less stupid stuff like being able to create unrealistic things in the game.

I hope you like it =P

Week 2

Today we played a game called Cloud. It is a very simple game but fun because of the way it is played. The character is simple but the way you progress the game keeps it interesting.

The earliest games where played in the 70's. In America 1972 the first 8-bit home console was released, the Magnavox Odyssey.
In the 80's things started to take off with computer gaming, online gaming, and the Nintendo System. The games played on them where things like Zelda, Pac Man, Donkey Kong, etc... at this time the first hand held devices where being introduced.
The 90's was what I remember in gaming where we started to go in to 16-bit 2D and 32-bit 3D graphics. Systems like PlayStation and Nintendo 64 where evolving to release classics like The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time. (a personal favorite from the time) We also started to see game on mobile phones. Snake was the most popular.
Then we go from the 00's till today. we had the PlayStation 2, Xbox, Game Cube. Then the PS3, Xbox 360, and the Wii. also much higher quality hand held game consoles like the PSP and Nintendo DS. Both still evolving to even higher heights with not 3D technology in the new 3DS.

Gaming has come a long way in a short period of time I cannot weight to see what we get in the next 40 years because who know what people will come up with. I do know that ill be using as much of it as I can while im around =P

Info from the web, mostly Wikipedia.

Week 1

What is fun to me? Fun is when you are happy and having a good time doing something. Going out with friends and having a party that is something you are interested in. Other forms of fun are in games, the challenge to progress in a game can give incentive to keep going. This is fun! When a game starts to get repetitive and boring, the fun starts to fade and you would usually quit the game or move on to something more appealing to you.
To me games that are fun are sometimes the most simple ones like “tick tack toe”, but once again after a while it gets boring and I will move on to something else. Games that for me as a young child that never lost my interest where things like Hide and Seek, Tigi or Hide and Seek Tigi.

This week we played a card game called Munchkins. It was very difficult to understand however we were able to get through it because of a handout that we were given. The game was strange and is something that we are supposed to learn so that we can work with it in class. There are lots of different cards with different purposes, I will be going on YouTube to learn how to play the game for the following weeks. I will need a heck of a lot of practice at the game too.
